AZITHROMYCIN  is an antibiotic that fights against bacteria.Azithromycin is a broad-spectrum macrolide antibiotic with a long half-life and a high degree of tissue penetration,

Azithromycin is used to treat many several types of infections caused by bacteria, such as respiratory infections, skin infections, ear infections, eye infections, and sexually transmitted diseases.


MECHANISM OF ACTION:-

Azithromycin prevents bacteria from growing by interfering with their protein synthesis. It binds to the 50S subunit of the bacterial ribosome, thus inhibiting translation of mRNA. Nucleic acid synthesis is not affected.



USED:- to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections. It is a macrolide-type antibiotic. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria.This medication will not work for viral infections (such as common cold, flu). Unnecessary use or misuse of any antibiotic can lead to its decreased effectiveness.

SIDE EFFECTS:-The more common side effects of azithromycin oral tablet can include:


diarrhea

nausea

abdominal (belly) pain

vomiting

headache
