 ACTINOMYCIN D (DACTINOMYCINE) BRAND NAME:- DACMOZEN 0.5 mg/vial inj. ACTINOMYCIN D ( DACTINOMYCINE) It's  an antibiotic. These are products obtained from microorganisms and have prominent antitumour activity. Practically all of them intercalate between DNA strands and interfere with its template function. It is very potent antineoplastic drug , highly efficacious in wilms' tumor and childhood rhabdomyosarcoma. Good results have also been obtained in Mtx resistance choriocarcinoma, Ewing's sarcoma and metastatic testicular carcinoma. In addition to blocking RNA transcription (due to interference with template function of DNA) DACTINOMYCINE causes single strand break in DNA .  IT IS A ANTI-CANCER DRUG. EITHER KILL CANCER CELLS OR MODIFY THEIR GROWTH. SIDE EFFECTS:- Prominent adverse effects are vomiting, stomatitis, diarrhoea, erythema and desquamation of skin , alopecia and bone marrow depression.
