AMBROXOL

 AMBROXOL

BRAND NAME:- AMBRIL,AMBROLITE,AMBRODIL,MUCOLITE 30mg tab,30mg/5 ml liquid,7.5mg/ml drops.

Ambroxol a metabolite of bromhexine having similar mucolytic action. The initiation of the action occurs after about 30 minutes when administered orally. The degradation of the fibers of acid mucopolysaccharide makes the sputum thinner and less viscous and therefore easier to extract by coughing. While sputum volume gradually decreases, for as long as care is continued, its viscosity remains low.

MECHANISM OF ACTION:-

Ambroxol is a mucolytic agent. Excessive Nitric oxide (NO) is associated with inflammatory and some other disturbances of airways function. NO enhances the activation of soluble guanylate cyclase and cGMP accumulation. Ambroxol has been shown to inhibit the NO-dependent activation of soluble guanylate cyclase. It is also possible that the inhibition of NO-dependent activation of soluble guanylate cyclase can suppress the excessive mucus secretion, therefore it lowers the phlegm viscosity and improves the mucociliary transport of bronchial secretions.

USED:-

In symptomatic treatment of tracheobronchitis, an infection that induces tracheal (windpipe) and pulmonary airway inflammation. Ambroxol in this case relieves the patient from an excessive cough and thick sputum.

Treatment of respiratory diseases.

Calcium Uses, Side Effects, and More

Calcium Brand name:- calcinol, cipcal ,M ilical, Calcium sandoze, Shelcal ,  Macalvit . Calcium is a mineral found in over-the-counter supplements or prescription formulations used for the treatment of specific medical conditions related to calcium deficiency.  PREPARATION:-  1. Calcium carbonate (40% Ca) : It is an insoluble, tasteless and nonirritating salt. Reacts with gastric HCL  to form cholride, and can be used as antacid. It is the most common salt present in calcium supplements, but gastric acid is required for  converting it into the absorbable form . Calcium availability from it is poor in patients taking proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) ,H² blocker, and in elderly. 2.  Calcium citrate ( as tetrahydrate , 21% Ca²+ ) : Slightly soluble in water, but dissolve well in presence of HCL . It is nonirritating and is used in supplements; absorption in patients taking PPIs/H² blocker and elderly is satisfactory. 3. Calcium gluconate (9% Ca) : is availa...
