ADALIMUMAB is type of  drug know as a biological therapy ,is a monoclonal antibody used to treatment of rheumatiod arthritis and other some conditions psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, plaque psoriasis, hidradenitis suppurativa, uveitis, and juvenile idiopathic arthritis. It is administered by injection under the skin.



ACTION:- It is fully human recombinant ANTI- TNFalpha antibody indicated in the same range of autoimmune disease as infliximab, and like the latter,does not bind TNFbeta ,but is less antigenic. It can be added to Mtx or other conventional drugs for additional benefit.



SIDE EFFECTS:-

 upper respiratory tract infections, pain at the site of injection, rash, and headache.Other side effects may include serious infections, cancer, anaphylaxis, reactivation of hepatitis B, multiple sclerosis, heart failure, liver failure, and aplastic anemia. Use during pregnancy is not recommended, but some sources show use during breastfeeding may be safe.


USED:-

to treatment of rheumatiod arthritis and other some conditions psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, plaque psoriasis, hidradenitis suppurativa, uveitis, and juvenile idiopathic arthritis. 

DOSE:- 

administration s.c. 40mg every 2 weeks


NOTE:-COMBINATION WITH Mtx IS ADVISED TO IMPROVE THE RESPONSE AND DECREASED ANTIBODY FORMATION.

Calcium carbonate (40% Ca) : It is an insoluble, tasteless and nonirritating salt. Reacts with gastric HCL  to form cholride, and can be used as antacid. It is the most common salt present in calcium supplements, but gastric acid is required for  converting it into the absorbable form . Calcium availability from it is poor in patients taking proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) ,H² blocker, and in elderly. 2.  Calcium citrate ( as tetrahydrate , 21% Ca²+ ) : Slightly soluble in water, but dissolve well in presence of HCL .
