Cinacalcet used, Side, Doses, mechanism of action & more

Cinacalcet  Brand name:- Pth. , Mimcipar , cercal, setz, cinlet. Cinacalcet is a medication used to treat tertiary hyperparathyroidism, parathyroid carcinoma, and primary hyperparathyroidism.Cinacalcet acts as a calcimimetic (i.e., it mimics the action of calcium on tissues) by allosteric activation of the calcium-sensing receptor that is expressed in various human organ tissues. Pharmacodynamic:-  Cinacalcet is a drug that acts as a calcimimetic (i.e. it mimics the action of calcium on tissues). Secondary hyperparathyroidism (HPT) in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a progressive disease, associated with increases in parathyroid hormone (PTH) levels and derangements in calcium and phosphorus metabolism. Increased PTH stimulates osteoclastic activity resulting in cortical bone resorption and marrow fibrosis. The goals of treatment of secondary hyperparathyroidism are to lower levels of PTH, calcium, and phosphorus in the blood, in order to prevent progressiv...

Cimetidine used, Side, Doses, mechanism of action & more

Cimetidine  Brand name:- Cimetidine 200mg , 400mg , 800mg tabs, 200mg/2ml injection. , Lock-2 200mg tab. Cimetidine is a gastric acid reducer used in the short-term treatment of duodenal and gastric ulcers. [1] Therefore, the drug effectively manages gastric hypersecretion and is used to manage reflux esophagitis disease and prevent stress-related gastric ulcers. Pharmacodynamic:-  Cimetidine is a histamine H2-receptor antagonist. It reduces basal and nocturnal gastric acid secretion and a reduction in gastric volume, acidity, and amount of gastric acid released in response to stimuli including food, caffeine, insulin, betazole, or pentagastrin. It is used to treat gastrointestinal disorders such as gastric or duodenal ulcer, gastroesophageal reflux disease, and pathological hypersecretory conditions. Cimetidine inhibits many of the isoenzymes of the hepatic CYP450 enzyme system. Other actions of Cimetidine include an increase in gastric bacterial flora such as nitrate-r...

Cilostazole used, Side, Doses, mechanism of action & more

Cilostazole Brand name:- Pletoz, Cilodoc, Stiloz 50, 100mg tabs.  Cilostazol widens the blood vessels and decreases the stickiness of the platelets, thereby increasing the blood flow to the lower limbs. Pharmacodynamic:-  Cilostazol reduces the symptoms of intermittent claudication, as indicated by an increased walking distance. Intermittent claudication is pain in the legs that occurs with walking and disappears with rest. The pain occurs due to reduced blood flow to the legs. Mechanism of action:-  Cilostazol and several of its metabolites are cyclic AMP (cAMP) phosphodiesterase III inhibitors (PDE III inhibitors), inhibiting phosphodiesterase activity and suppressing cAMP degradation with a resultant increase in cAMP in platelets and blood vessels, leading to inhibition of platelet aggregation and vasodilation. Used:-  Cilostazol is used in the treatment of intermittent claudication. It helps in reducing the symptoms of intermittent claudication like pain, crampin...

Cidofovir used, Side, Doses, mechanism of action & more

Cidofovir Brand name:- Cidnavir injection. Cidofovir, brand name Vistide, is a topical or injectable antiviral medication primarily used as a treatment for cytomegalovirus (CMV) retinitis (an infection of the retina of the eye) in people with AIDS. Cidofovir was approved for medical use in 1996. Pharmacodynamic:- Cidofovir is a new anti-viral drug. It is classified as a nucleotide analogue and is active against herpes cytomegalovirus (CMV) retinitis infection. Most adults are infected with CMV. Cidofovir suppresses cytomegalovirus (CMV) replication by selective inhibition of viral DNA synthesis.  Mechanism of action:-  Cidofovir acts through the selective inhibition of viral DNA polymerase.Biochemical data support selective inhibition of CMV DNA polymerase by cidofovir diphosphate, the active intracellular metabolite of cidofovir. Cidofovir diphosphate inhibits herpes virus polymerases at concentrations that are 8- to 600-fold lower than those needed to inhibit human cel...

Ciclesonide used, Side, Doses, mechanism of action & more

Ciclesonide Brand name:- Ciclez 80ûg and 160ûg per metered inhaler. Ciclesonide is a steroid which works by blocking the production of certain chemical messengers in the body that cause inflammation (redness and swelling) and allergies. Pharmacodynamic:-  Ciclesonide is a pro-drug that is enzymatically hydrolyzed to a pharmacologically active metabolite, C21- desisobutyryl- ciclesonide (des- ciclesonide or RM1) following intranasal application. Des- ciclesonide has anti-inflammatory activity with affinity for the glucocorticoid receptor that is 120 times higher than the parent compound. The precise mechanism through which ciclesonide affects allergic rhinitis symptoms is not known. Corticosteroids have been shown to have a wide range of effects on multiple cell types (e.g., mast cells, eosinophils, neutrophils, macrophages, and lymphocytes) and mediators (e.g., histamine, eicosanoids, leukotrienes, and cytokines) involved in allergic inflammation. Mechanism of action:-  ...
