Cefdinir
Brand name:- Sefdin , Adcef 300mg cap.
Cefdinir is an antibiotic. It kills the bacteria by preventing them from forming the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) which is needed for them to survive.
Pharmacodynamic:-
Cefdinir is a bactericidal agent that treats bacterial infections by interfering with cell wall synthesis. Cefdinir exerts broad-spectrum activity against a variety of gram-positive and gram-negative bacterial infections. It is effective against several beta-lactamase enzyme producing bacteria. As a result, many organisms that are resistant to other cephalosporins may be susceptible to cefdinir.
Mechanism of action:-
Cefdinir are bactericidal and, like other β-lactam antibiotics, disrupt the synthesis of the peptidoglycan layer forming the bacterial cell wall. The peptidoglycan layer is important for cell wall structural integrity. The final transpeptidation step in the synthesis of the peptidoglycan is facilitated by penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs). PBPs bind to the D-Ala-D-Ala at the end of muropeptides (peptidoglycan precursors) to crosslink the peptidoglycan. Beta-lactam antibiotics mimic the D-Ala-D-Ala site, thereby irreversibly inhibiting PBP crosslinking of peptidoglycan.
used:-
Used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections. This medication is known as a cephalosporin antibiotic.
Side effects:-
Diarrhea, headache, or nausea Vaginal moniliasis, Abdominal pain, Vaginal inflammation, Protein in urine, Increased gamma-glutamyltransferase, High lymphocyte count, Lymphocytopenia, Microhematuria, Increased urine leukocyte .
