BRAND NAME:- DURPAEN, BENZATHINE ,PENIDURA 


BENZATHINE BENZYLPENICILLIN  is an antibiotic. It kills bacteria by preventing them from forming the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) which is needed for them to survive. Benzathine penicillin G is used in the treatment of bacterial infections, syphilis and Rheumatic fever. 


PHARMACOLOGY:-

BENZATHINE BENZYLPENICILLIN is narrow spectrum antibiotic used to treat infections caused by susceptible bacteria. It is a natural penicillin antibiotic that is administered intravenously or intramuscularly due to poor oral absorption. 

MECHANISM OF ACTION:-

BENZATHINE BENZYLPENICILLIN is  the penicillin class of medications. It is slowly absorbed into the circulation, after intramuscular injection, and hydrolysed to benzylpenicillin in vivo. It is the drug-of-choice when prolonged low concentrations of benzylpenicillin are required and appropriate, allowing prolonged antibiotic action over 2–4 weeks after a single IM dose. 

USED:- 

Used in the treatment of bacterial infections, syphilis and Rheumatic fever & treatment a wide variety of bacterial infections. It may also be used to prevent certain bacterial infections (such as rheumatic fever). This medication is a long-acting penicillin antibiotic. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria.

SIDE EFFECTS:- 

Common side effects are Nausea, Diarrhea, Candidiasis etc.
