AMINEPTINE like tianeptine it enhances 5-HT uptake,and has antidepressant property.




MECHANISM OF ACTION:-

 Amineptine is an atypical tricyclic antidepressant.Amineptine selectively inhibits the reuptake of dopamine and to a lesser extent norepinephrine, thus exerting a powerful and fast-acting antidepressant effect.


USED:- Treatment of depression.


SIDE EFFECTS:- It produced anticholinergic side effects including tachycardia, confusion and delirium. Postural hypotension, conduction distrubance and arrhythmias can occur, especially in patients with heart disease.


DOSE:- 100mg BD at breakfast and lunch.
